Rants

Okay I have always been a fan of American Idol. I have always been a fan of Simon Cowell in fact. But now I am totally jumping on the band wagon and boycotting American Idol. I understand that people need honesty and I don't think the judges are being mean ...... until it comes to people that may not have the mental capacity to understand the ramifications of trying out. This comes with some of the tryouts this year of people with special needs.

Let me explain a little bit of how the American Idol auditions works, there is like 20000 people wating outside that come in to tryout. So first people let people in just to be made fun off(case in point William Hung) Not only could Paula,Simon and Randy have let them of easy- which they did not they made fun of physical appearances(even though I am pretty sure they all have had surgery Randy- Gastric bypass much?). To add insult to injury they air these episodes to make further fun of these people. When is enough?

I would like to point out that the arguement has come up that these people know what they are getting into when they tryout. I agree with most of the contestants that is true. But when it is somebody that does not understand this people need to show compassion, empathy and overall good manners.

Also to do this some people is not only crushing their dreams and hopes it is nothing short of exploitation.

Grey's Anatomy

Isiah Washington should be fired, plain and simple. For use of a disgusting vile word that will not be repeated here but it was a slur against gay people, specifically T.R. Knight (McCuddly_George). If it was a racial slur or a deragatory word against women it would be harassmaent and grounds for firing. Grey's has already lost ratings which sucks because it has a great cast. Not only did he use the term but on Golden Globe night he denied that he did said that word.

John Mayer said on his blog that he should have to live out his contract as a gay man on the show to portray gay people in a positive light. Way to go John!

Also Bravo to T.R. Knight for the amazing courage he has shown in spite of the incident and to Patrick Dempsey and Katherine Heigl for the courage to stick up for their friend.

Muh... I think the world needs to lighten up. William Hung went on to fame and fortune after being made fun of.

Most people just go on these shows so that they can try to be on television.

As for Gray's Anatomy - If Kraemer can burst out racial slurs at a public forum where he is BEING PAID, with absolutely no consequence, surely Isaiah Washington is simply following suit.

Face it, girl, we live in a society where no one has any respect for anyone else. Television and celebrities simply prove this to us over and over again.

Don't get me wrong. I in no way condone these people or their actions. I just honestly believe that the best we can do is to teach our children that what they do and say is wrong.

In the mean time, you have to admit that the most popular part of American Idol is the early auditions... Can YOU watch it and not laugh....?

I can absolutely watch it and not laugh, when it is people with special needs. It turns my stomach when people are laughing when people are being made fun off.

As I said in my post I don't care about the people who are trying to get their 15 minutes, It's the people that don't have the mental capacity to understand what they are doing.
As for Michael Richards bursting out Racial slurs he is not allowed back at that club plus good luck try to get a job in the business again.

LOL! J/K buddy. I'm sure you're not. No really...I am sure.

Or am I?

PS. I hate Kramer too and think he should get fired from Seinfeld immediately. There. I said my peace.

People with diminished mental capacities should have families and friends to support them.

The families, friends and caregivers of these people are the ones who should be criticized for allowing them to be put in potentially humiliating situations.

People with diminished mental capacity do not fully understand that they are putting themselves 'out there'. Those who care about them should not allow them to audition on a national television program, fully knowing that they can and probably WILL be humiliated, embarassed and confused.

These people deal with enough criticism from ignorant members of our society on a daily basis. How DARE their caregivers, families etc. allow them to PURPOSELY be in a potentialy damadging situation?

.... but I suppose it is easier to blame Simon Cowell and ignore the fact that the whole situation SHOULD have been avoided in the first place.

So.. what exactly DID happen to Kraemer? How was he consequenced? Funny..... I can't remember hearing ANYTHING in the news about a consequence for the disgusting things that he said. Banned from a club? So what? IS that a consequence now? Is that a punishment? What restitution does he make to society for the things that he said?

He has tons of money and should have been forced to make a sizeable donation to a multi-cultural charity.

Publicizing these racial slurs and deragatory comments does NOTHING but call attention to the fact that these VERY famous, VERY rich people get away with ALL of these things.

All it does is show people that in a society where racial tensions STILL exist, that people are STILL getting away with ignorance.

My point is and will ALWAYS be:
The ONLY thing we can do do avoid these things is to EDUCATE our CHILDREN that they are, at the very core, disgusitng, vile and inappropriate.

Merely complaining about them is completely ineffectual.

I don't see anything on this blog about the POSITIVE contributions that celebrities make to minority groups and the underpriviledged.

The simple fact is, our society celebrates CONTROVERSY.

We dwell in the negative and disgusting and low-down dirty sleaziness of our society.

Why is it that positive contributions to society don't make the news?

Why is it that positive contributions to society don't make it on to your blog....?

Why do we only care about the bad stuff? Why aren't GOOD, HAPPY things a cause for discussion?

And then we wonder why kids grow up more and more violent, neglectful, and just plain mean.

It begs the question, just where IS our society headed......?
